PPCT Defensive Tactics Course

This 40 hour PPCT Defensive Tactics course is the first subject control system developed through tactical, legal, and medical research. Tactically, the system addresses the most common types of resistance officers encounter, allowing the instructor to maximize training on job related techniques. Legally, the PPCT System teaches a simple use of force continuum which clarifies the appropriate force level for every level of resistance. Medical research was conducted on every PPCT technique to refine technique efficiency and to ensure the medical implications were proportional to the level of resistance.

Course Covers:

Tactical Flashlight Training Course

This is designed with Security Officers in mind. It is also great for civilians and Law Enforcement Officers. You are limited as to what you can carry for self defense. It is a requirement by the Saskatchewan Justice Department that all security officers are supplied a flashlight to carry while on duty. But I don't know how many times that I've had someone laugh and say "ooooohhh what you gonna do, blind me with your flashlight" when they see me carry it. This course teaches you the proper way to hold and use you flashlight as a defensive weapon. You will be surprised what you can actually do with it and will realize that it is the best thing to have with you. In my opinion its even better than a baton.
(4 hour course)

Tactical Knife Defense Course

For those of us who have been there -- having faced the horror and the terror of having someone actually try to kill us -- we have a "slight" understanding of the reality of it. The knife or edged weapon seems to be more common to carry than ever. To begin with a knife is not a weapon; it is a "tool". We will show you the best place to be in a knife fight, how to defend against this "tool". You must realize that this is a knife fight; you will be cut, stabbed or even killed. A very well know military instructor said that if he was in a bar and someone pulled out a knife, the first thing he would do is call the police because they are better equipped to deal with the situation but if his back is up against a wall and he had to do something or be killed then you had better know something. This is the mentality that we take. We want you to survive a knife confrontation by using common sense and we will teach that to you.
(8 hour course)

Handgun Retention and Disarming Course

Urban/Street Tactical Training Course

This is designed with the reality that there are no rules in a street confrontation. The object here is to survive an attack. Whether to know the warning signs and avoid the situation all together or use what ever means to stop the attack and get away to safety as fast as you can. We try to base the training on scenarios that a person faces in the street. No uniforms or classroom theory. Street clothes, street smarts, and a lot of common sense, this in quite different than traditional martial arts training. You are taught distraction techniques, defensive moves, strikes, joint locks, pressure points, improvised weapons, knife defense, just to mention a few, that you can walk out the door and use right away. For Law Enforcement Officers, some firearm retention and disarming techniques are added. (Introduction and advanced course)

Security Officer Training

The security profession is one of the most overlooked professions. Security officers are expected to put their lives on the line, protecting people or property for only minimum wage or slightly higher. On top of this, there is really no mandated training required for security officers, which means that they are placed on a post with little to no training and only little reimbursement for risking their personal safety for others.

Lionheart Security Consulting & Tactical Training would like to see this change. To this end we offer street tactical training for security officers. We give the officers material that they need to perform their jobs successfully. This not only increases the officer's safety but it greatly reduces the liability for the officer's employer.

The security officer training courses include but are not limited to the following topics:
  • Understanding the Use-of-Force Continuum
  • Understanding the Reactionary Gap
  • Understanding Gross Motor-Skills
  • Instinctive Body Reactions vs Learned Reactions
  • Tactical Body Positioning
  • De-Escalation Tactics
  • Takedown Tactics
  • Control & Containment Holds
  • Understanding Limitations of Pressure Point Tactics
  • Distraction theory
  • Edged Weapon Defense
  • Tactical Ground Defense

Jeet Kune Do/Martial Arts/Self Defense Classes

The student is given a verbal introduction /overview of the Jeet Kune Do martial art style from the instructor and a white belt symbolizing the beginning of their journey towards their black belt. I have this type of traditional training to honor where all training began. This is designed for all ages. The students are learning the basics of our tactical street defense. We are not going to teach a 7 year old to disarm someone with a knife or gun but will teach them the foundation so when they are ready they will have the ability to do so. They will learn that Martial Arts is for self-defense and not for aggressive behavior. There are steps they will follow such as how to avoid a confrontation, situation de-escalation (talk your way out), bluffing, never throw the first blow, closest weapon-closest target and that FEAR is - False Evidence Appearing Real. The techniques learned at all belt levels are body defenses such as punches, kicks choke counters, grappling etc. At the upper belt levels they learn defenses against weapons such as a bottle, flashlight, baseball bat, pool cue, staff/stick, knife, sword and gun. We have the following belt levels- White Belt, Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Blue Belt, Red Belt, Brown Belt and Black Belt.

Women’s Self Defense / Rape Prevention Course

Rape is not about sex, it is about control. The truth of the matter is you are in an isolated situation with someone who is willing to use violence to get what he wants. You are dealing with someone who has thought about doing this, even fantasized about it. The trick is, first do not let yourself be a victim. Be aware of your surroundings, take precautions, have a plan. You would be surprised how many women have the attitude that this can never happen to me. This "head in the sand" theory does not work in today’s world. Even if you do everything to prevent this from happening and for what ever reason, it still happens, just get the hell out of there! And by whatever means necessary to keep you from being raped. The purpose of any physical engagement needs to be escape. Remember; don't run from danger, run to safety. The new game today is date rape. It is threats of physical harm or drugs to control the person, again, this is control. In order for a rape to occur, there must be three basic elements:

A.O.I. Diagram

This is easily remembered as A.O.I. (Ability, Opportunity and Intent).

Take away any one of these elements and the triangle collapses. In other words, the crime does not have what it needs to occur. Our women’s self defense course teaches you the danger signs, how not to be a victim, how to take away one of the elements and if all else fails how to stop an attack.
(8 hour course)
